Say it with Flowers Blog Hop Day 5

Today is Day 5 of the Say it with Flowers Blog Hop and I am up!

I had grand plans but ran into some technical difficulties.  The flower part of my project worked out but not the item I was going to attach it to so I improvised.

This is a simple little mug rug for my daughter to set her drink on at her desk.  If you follow my blog you know that every project I have made for the last four blog hops has been an item for her room in the hot pink and black color scheme.

The mug rug is an in the hoop design from GG Deisgns in Australia-- Love her stuff. It's hard to tell in the picture but it's quilted in a diamond pattern.    The flowers are sewn in the hoop also.  The design is from Reen Wilcox at Embroidery Garden-- Love her stuff too!

What makes the flowers crinkly is this stuff called Texture Magic that you sandwich in between the layers of fabric and batting and then steam with an iron.  It shrinks the fabric by 30% in all directions.  I love the way it looks.  I got lucky and found the stuff at my local quilt store the Quilt Asylum.

I had never heard of Texture Magic until Reen postedon her Embroidery Garden Facebook page.    Now I want to buy the stuff buy the bolt, here is what the package looks like.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the blog hop.  BTW:   I am hosting a Patriotic Sewing Swap... scroll down to read more about it.  Please visit these other ladies too!
