Sweet Pouch Swap -- what I sent

I am finally getting back to posting.  It has been such a crazy month.

This is the pouch I sent to Jane in Australia.  She finally received it so I can reveal. I am so pleased with the way it turned out.  This pattern is by Embroidery Garden, a bit time consuming compared to the other simple pouches I make all of the time, but totally worth it.

On the back I appliqued a big J, I just couldn't let it be blank.  This is the Tuscan alphabet by Embroidery Boutique.

I added a little signature with my initials and date in the lower right corner.

The lining was the spool fabric.

This was for the Sweet Pouch Swap hosted by Ros at Sew Delicious.  I love her swaps, everyone does some amazing pouches.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Pouch Swap

I am participating in the Sweet Pouch Swap for the third time.  My partner is Jane in Australia, her favorite colors are purple and green... and she loves owls.  Here's the fabric I have chosen.

Here is a sneak peak of what I have made....  As soon as she receives, I will reveal.  Thanks for stopping by...

Halloween Owl Pin Cushion

Welcome to everyone visiting from the Pin It Blog Hop.  Thank you to Kristen for cheerleading and Madam Samm at Sew We Quilt.  This is my fifth blog hop this year and I have enjoyed every single one so much.

I made this little owl pin cushion using several Halloween fabrics.  This is going to be one of the items I send my partner in the Halloween Sewing Swap I am hosting.  There are more than 70 ladies from all over the US and six other countries participating in the swap and I am so excited.

This is an in the hoop design from Reen at Embroidery Garden.  I used fusible fleece on the body to create a smooth look and stuffed it with polyfill and walnut litter.  Walnut litter can be purchased at the pet store and it's great for adding weight and sharpening needles and pins as you stick them in and pull them out of the cushion.

The fun thing about this owl design is that the wings open up and there is a pocket in the belly.  I fussy cut the witch to fit front and center as the pocket.  You can stick needles and special decorative pins in the wings and put things like a seam ripper and small scissors in the belly pocket.  In fact, if you put the small scissors in the center pocket, the rings on the handles should fit nicely over the eyes.  You also put two spools of thread in the two elastic loops that are sewn in the bottom seam to make the owl sit upright.

I hope my Halloween Sewing Partner likes this as much as I enjoyed making it for her.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the rest of the ladies in the blog hop today, tomorrow and last week.

Owl Pillow

This is another one of the gifts I made for end of the school year.  This pillow was for the school librarian who is expecting her first baby girl.

The colors in the nursery are pink and lavender and the theme is owls.  This is what I came up with.

This pillow measured 12x12 stuffed.  The little owl was fun to applique but a little time consuming.  Towards the end of the stitching I opted for button eyes instead of doing fabric applique.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

Owl Dish Towel & Pot Holder

I found these cute little owl dish towels and pot holders the other day and just had to buy them, I thought the applique was so cute.  I personalized 3 sets of these for my mother in law and two of hubby's aunts.

I need to stock up on these because they turned out to be great quick gifts I could stitch up in no time when I need something fast.  Thanks for stopping by!

Owl Card

Your eyes are seeing right, a handmade card! Last week during the snow Micaela and I dusted off the Cricut and made a few cards. We made this one for one of her little friends that had surgery recently. The owl is from the Hoot 'n' Holler Lite Cricut cartridge, all the card stock is Stampin' Up! and the card is 5.5 inches square.
